What does it mean to be a Mystic? (And How to Know if You Are One)Mysticism is a personal spiritual practice. If you are a yogi, spiritual practitioner, astrologer, or seeker in today’s modern age, then you’re likely on a mystical path. But, most of us aren’t aware of this, or how to actually take advantage of this to create the kind of bliss and connection we seek.

When I first started practicing yoga and astrology, I dove right in. Head first.

As a kid, I really didn’t have any type of religious upbringing. For me, Christmas was about trees and Easter was about bunnies.

Having grown up in a suburban neighborhood in Colorado, the secular nature of the world around me didn’t really give me much chance to explore spirituality at all.

In fact, I really only received one lesson on divinity as a kid, and that was from my beloved grandmother, who said:

God lives inside your heart.

She was quite the mystic. She understood that in the years during World War II when she couldn’t make it to her weekly service, she was still able to connect through her personal daily rituals.

This was her communion with spirit, and it was something she passed on to me.

Of course, I didn’t really understand the gravity of it until I started to feel an unfamiliar pull toward spiritual practices. That part of me was waking up, and the “god-sized hole” in my psyche demanded to be filled.

I’ll bet you’ve experienced the same thing.

There’s this inner pull that drives you to start exploring spiritual practices in order to find the one that satisfies your own psychic itch.

Perhaps you go to yoga. Maybe you dabble in astrology.

But, it’s hard to really know what you’re doing sometimes, isn’t it?

Many of us have been labeled “spiritual seekers.”

It’s time for us to be spiritual finders, and do the work required to develop our own personal mythology, fill that god-sized hole, and become mystics.

Mysticism isn’t weird, or scary, or unknown.

Mysticism is real, practical, and personal.
